We have a trade: Bills deal Marshawn Lynch to Seattle

C:\ProgramThe Bills have been insisting for weeks that Marshawn Lynch(notes) was not on the trade block. This of course meant that he was definitely on the trade block, and priced to move. Buffalo showcased Lynch in Weeks 2 and 3, giving him 30 carries, and he was finally dealt on Tuesday. The Bills reportedly shipped Lynch to the Seahawks in exchange for a fourth round pick in 2011 and a conditional selection in 2012. Jay Glazer first tweeted the story.

If you're a Lynch owner, this isn't the best possible news — Green Bay was the dream — but at least you're not tied to Buffalo's offense any longer. Justin Forsett's(notes) value clearly takes a hit, not that he was carrying your fantasy team. Forsett hasn't topped 65 rushing yards in any game this season, and he hasn't yet visited the end zone. Julius Jones(notes) has been released by the Seahawks; he was released by the fantasy community a year ago.

Seattle has a bye in Week 5, so Lynch will have a decent amount of time to familiarize himself with the playbook. Head coach Pete Carroll says he'll contribute "immediately." Expect Lynch to claim the featured role, which, if we're being realistic, should translate into a bunch of 18-carry, 70-yard performances. (Too pessimistic? Make your argument in comments. The Seahawks have averaged 3.6 yards per carry and 79.5 rushing yards per game this year). The big winner in this trade is obviously Michael Silver, who now has an all-Cal backfield to root for.

This deal removes some clutter from the depth chart in Buffalo, which of course helps CJ Spiller(notes). The rookie had a spectacular preseason for the Bills, but he's only received 6.5 touches per week through four games. He gets a friendly home match-up with Jacksonville on Sunday, then a bye. Fred Jackson's(notes) stock also rises here, as the Bills clearly prefer not to use Spiller as a full-workload back. Expect both players to see 12-15 touches per game. Jackson is only owned in 33 percent of Yahoo! leagues; he's now an obvious waiver claim.
